Responsibilities

Performs advanced (senior level) computer programming in an IMS/application mainframe environment. Work involves overseeing programming projects, analyzing proposed applications, and designing software solutions. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

  1. Knowledge of modern programming languages is required to ‘translate’ how the batch code will be redefined in the new language.
  2. Ability to present findings of research in business terms clearly so requirements can be created
  3. Ability to diagram flow for the batch programs to enhance understanding of the overall process
  4. Hierarchal and Relational database knowledge required
  5. Ability to read schedules in Job Track
  6. Ability to document those schedules by program groupings

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent related work experience.

Detailed knowledge of developing and maintaining IMS/application mainframe applications

5+

CICS/BMS experience

5+

Experience in COBOL, CICS, JCL, REXX, ISPF,  File-Aid or a similar product

 

Preferred (Optional):

Hands-on experience with Mark IV

ISPF and other IBM utilities experience

Experience with File Aid

Experience with Expediter

Experience with JCL

IMS and VSAM experience
