The Railroad Commission of Texas requires the services of one (1) Senior Business Intelligence Analyst, Level 3, with strong experience in Power BI and Snowflake to transform raw data into actionable insights. This role blends technical expertise, analytical thinking, and business acumen to support data‑driven decision‑making across the organization.
Additionally, focus on technical development, data modeling, stakeholder partnership, and enablement through training and self‑service analytics frameworks.
All work products resulting from the project shall be considered "works made for hire" and are the property of the Railroad Commission of Texas. Background checks may apply as authorized by Texas law. RRC will pay no fees for interviews or discussions during Candidate selection.
Job Description
Major responsibilities include Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models using Power Query, and best‑practice data modeling. Develop scalable star‑schema models and reusable datasets to support enterprise reporting. Ensure visualizations are intuitive, accurate, and aligned with business needs. Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for business improvement.
Other responsibilities include working closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translating them into BI solutions. Present insights and recommendations to leadership in a clear, compelling way. Support self‑service analytics by enabling business users to explore curated datasets.

10+ | Experience in BI, analytics, or data modeling roles. |
5+ | Advanced proficiency with Power BI (DAX, Power Query, data modeling). |
5+ | Skill with Microsoft Office tools, particularly with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and SharePoint |
3+ | Strong SQL skills with hands‑on experience in Snowflake, Databricks, or similar product. |
5+ | Experience designing or supporting self‑service analytics environments. |
2+ | Knowledge of database structures and theories |
2+ | Knowledge of enterprise information management processes and methodologies, relational database management systems, and metadata management |
2+ | Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations (PII) relevant to data management and data governance |
2+ | Experience in working in fast-paced and ever-changing environments; achieving project’s deliverables and deadlines; exercising sound judgment in making critical decisions; analyzing complex information and developing plans to address identified issues. |
