Responsibilities

**Location of job: 4 days onsite, 1 day remote. Candidate must be local to Austin,TX**

 

The Investment Management Division (IMD) Data Business Analyst (BA) or Product Owner works with business owners, engineers, and architects as a product team to develop and maintain product visions and roadmaps and is the authoritative source authority for decisions regarding priority, business value, and functionality for all the work done by for the Investment Product Line. The BA/PO possesses an in-depth knowledge of goals and desired objectives of the product, which recognizes business, technical, and operations perspectives.

The BA/PO works under the management of the Business Experience Architecture and Demand Management Manager.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of client's business, specifically IMD business goals and processes to inform product priorities and improvements.
  • Develop strong relationships and regularly communicate with product stakeholders and customers to shape the product strategy and surface and prioritize needs.
  • Communicate the project vision at the beginning of every release and sprint so that the scrum team understands and is equipped to realize it. 
  • Establish product roadmaps and release plans that incrementally satisfy requirements and achieve business outcomes.
  • Perform business process and requirements analyses by leading stakeholder meetings on the gathering, documentation, and detailed analysis of business requirements.
  • Partner with the business to understand challenges and process impacts in order achieve business objectives
  • Clearly communicates business decisions and requirements through epics and stories. 
  • Help to translate business requirements into actionable user stories. This may involve transcribing requirements from developers and/or business users, assigning story writing tasks, and holding people accountable to complete.
  • Hold all story writing contributors accountable to properly define acceptance criteria, enough detail to act on, and provide story point estimates.
  • Assist IT Stakeholders and business stakeholders to scope stories in actionable chunks.
  • Create and maintain product specifications documentation and workflows
  • Proactively identify and resolve blockers to achieve business objectives for the product, including technical and resourcing challenges.
  • Creates, maintains, prioritizes, and sequences the product backlog based on business value or ROI.
  • Help with organizing the backlog into categories and make sure that all stories have priority and roll up to a milestone.
  • Decides which user stories are scheduled into sprints.
  • Contributes to Investments Product Line related project planning, daily stand-up meetings (scrums), reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos, and other Scrum-related meetings.
  • Reviews deliverable and demonstrable code after every sprint and has the authority to accept or reject story completion.
  • Assists with developing and maintaining standards for testing and progress visibility.
  • Assists with prioritization and resolution of defects / bugs.
  • Steers the project to ensure delivery of business value.
  • Use analysis techniques to identify user needs, business processes, pain points, and system capabilities to automate or improve existing systems.
  • Actively participate in the software development lifecycle, including managing deadlines, following change control procedures, tracking requirement status, and defining quality control checks.
  • Diagram end-to-end process flows and data mapping to streamline and automate processes to drive efficiencies and scalability

Skills

  • Proficient in documenting process flows using Visio and PowerPoint
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent training
  • Working understanding of modern data platforms used for Data Lakes, Warehousing, Visualization along with common data ingestion, processing, and data consumption and delivery techniques
  • Attention to detail, high sense of urgency, and an all-around get-it-done attitude. Focus and follow up to help the project team drive towards milestones and deliver value to the business.
  • Delivering creative and workable solution to complex problems and issues.
  • Ability to express products as a series of MVPs and achieve desired business outcomes incrementally
  • Verbal and written communication, interacting professionally with diverse groups, and conveying technical information to audiences.
  • Documenting project actions, decisions, issues, and risks and presenting them to management in an easy to understand format.
  • Planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments to effectively meet frequent and/or multiple deadlines, handling multiple tasks simultaneously, and managing conflicting priorities and demands.
  • Proven capabilities of writing high level, functional, and technical requirements; identifying process improvements where applicable
  • Able to comprehend new concepts, ask appropriate questions, and execute and document ideas and concepts with minimal day-to-day direction
