    Responsibilities

    A State of Texas agency requires a DB2 Database Administrator that will be engaging in database related activities for migration from one environment to another environment daily. The DB2 Database Administrator will be heavily engaged with the RTS Application release 9.2.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Perform advanced DB2 database administration work to coordinate the planning, development, maintenance, and monitoring of integrated database systems;
    • Perform evaluation and review of database policies and procedures; and maintaining data integrity;
    • Design, build, configure, and administer Database updates
    • Resolve database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues;
    • Troubleshoot existing DBMS's by monitoring and diagnosing performance related issues;
    • Deploy and fine-tune test DB2 databases for the purpose of production validation;
    • Perform and/or review logical and physical data modeling, designs relational database models, and creates physical data models from logical data models;
    • Recommend and coordinate the upgrading and patching of DBMS's.
    • Plans and coordinates migration to new data management system software levels
    • Ideal candidate has the ability to stay positive during stressful situation and be a problem solver.

    DB2 DBA experience on Windows, Linux or AIX (version 9 or 10 preferred)

    Experience with Explain or DB Advisor

    Experience with DB2 Studio or Toad

    Experience with DB2Top and db2pd

    Experience writing triggers and stored procedures

    Experience with tuning DB2 databases

    5

    Knowledge of DB2 Security

    Experience with DB2 Incremental Backups

    5

    Knowledge of DB2 Licensing

    5

    Knowledge of Materialized Query Tables

    5

    Experience with writing and debugging complex SQL statements

    5

    Experience with Tivoli Storage Management (TSM) and/or Avamar backup solutions

    5

    Experience with trouble shooting application issues

    5

    Experience with JIRA/SVN/Confluence would be nice to have but not required

    5

    Experience with Remedy would be nice to have but not required

    5

    Knowledge of Cognos

    5

    Knowledge of Informatica

    5

    Experience with Linux and AIX command line commands and editors

    Experience writing Shell Scripts

    Perl, JAVA, C language nice to have but not required

    Knowledge of Operating System (Linux or AIX) security

    Experience with IBM DB2 HADR (High Availability Disaster Recovery)

    Perform frequent database indexing and admin table updates into the database

    Experience supporting IBM DB2 9 version to the latest 11.x version

    Experience performing database administrator activities on six environments (Dev, Sys, UAT, Last, Prod and Stage) to support client applications

    Experience with change approval process to perform database activities in various environments

    5

    Ability to coordinate with the batch team before performing database tuning activities weekly for Production environment
