    Responsibilities

    A Texas state agency requires a GIS programmer to perform geospatial web applications development tasks for an existing tool. The GIS programmer will create new or modify existing geospatial tools (widgets) to query natural resources information and publish graphical summaries by geographic region for an easy to use web application.  The applications will be primarily developed using ESRI web development tools and services, utilizing ESRI ArcGIS compatible languages such as JavaScript (with node.js), Python, and HTML.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Programs or modifies existing code in support of data processing needs and web application development.
    • Works collaboratively with natural resource scientists during development of the EFIT web-based tool and to create or modify existing geospatial tools (widgets)
    • Develops, tests, and updates web applications as required.
    • Uses issue tracking and project management techniques to document lessons learned.
    • Advises the Project Director and team on status of active systems and development activities.
    • Produces, maintains technical documentation, and presents solution briefings to management and team members.

    Graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Computer Science, Engineering, Natural Resources, or a related field.

     

    Previous coursework or experience in developing custom web-based GIS applications and widgets using Web AppBuilder, ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Online

    2 years professional Experience and proficiency with Application Development using the ArcGIS API for JavaScript and, .NET or 3 years professional Experience with scripting web and ArcGIS development languages including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python

     

    Previous coursework and experience using ESRI ArcGIS 10.x or newer.
