Allied Consultants, Inc. is an Austin-based firm which has for 25 years been a premier provider of technical and business professionals to clients in Texas. We are currently seeking an experienced Senior .NET Developer to be a key resource on a technical services team.

Responsibilities

Performs highly advance computer programming and systems analysis work in an application development environment.  Work involves developing, testing, analyzing, and debugging agency .NET applications following industry best practices while meeting business requirements.  Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This position reports to the Director of Applications Development. 

  • Designs, develops, updates and maintains .NET applications.
  • Serves as lead programmer for .NET applications used by the agency.
  • Performs advanced technical analysis work for proposed projects, new development or modifications/enhancements to existing systems.
  • Conducts testing to verify logic and ensure compliance with development standards and system/business requirements.
  • Completes complex support tickets, including troubleshooting and correcting coding errors/issues.
  • Participates in scoping/feasibility discussions and proposes solutions using the .NET framework.
  • Provides status updates on work assignments and any technical issues that present risk to project timeline as required by selected project framework.
  • Recommends and promotes secure coding practices for .NET based applications to reduce vulnerabilities.
  • Assists in coaching and monitoring performance of .NET programmers while providing advice and guidance on tasks and assignments, as needed.
  • Develops and maintains expertise in programing tools, including staying current on the latest technology updates and development techniques.
  • Analyzes system development life cycle (SDLC) processes.
  • Works closely with the Information Security team to perform periodic risk assessments on agency applications and initiates risk control strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborates with the project team and provides realistic development effort estimates to successfully complete work assignments and assist with planning of go live activities.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state and agency Web Accessibility policies and procedures.
  • Applies appropriate Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) standards at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Required:

Years     Skills/Experience

 

5              Programming using Microsoft .NET technologies.

5              Develops and/or leads the development of prototypes.

5              Data modeling design and database concepts.

5              Relational database technologies and capabilities.

5              Microsoft Visual InterDev, Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Fireworks, Microsoft Gif Animator, etc.

5              Web technology standards WCAG Section 508.

2              Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL).

1              Object Oriented Programming experience.

Degree Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.

 

 

Preferred:

Years     Skill/Experience

 

Degree Bachelor’s degree or above with major college course work in computer science, information technology, business, or related field.

                Knowledge of .NET or similar web scripting language (PHP, Java, Python, etc.)

                Knowledge of database design concepts to include relational databases (OLTP) and data warehouses (preferably in MS SQL).

                Experience in applications system design, development, implementation, testing, and maintenance.

                Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies to deliver on time, high quality solutions.

                Experience in ensuring Web accessibility compliance for new and pre-existing technology solutions, including 508 and WCAG 2.0AA.
